Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA) Officially Launches the Essential Shelter Items Distribution Project in Tigray

Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA) officially launched the Essential Shelter Items (ESI) Distribution Project on July 14, 2026, in Shire-Indaselassie, Tigray Region.

The launch event brought together representatives from the Regional Government, Bureau of Finance and Economy, Disaster Risk Management and Coordination Commission (DRMC), Bureau of Social Affairs and Women Affairs, along with other key humanitarian partners and stakeholders. Their participation reaffirmed the shared commitment to supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) with timely and coordinated humanitarian assistance.

The project will provide tarpaulins and ropes to 3,000 vulnerable households to help rehabilitate and strengthen temporary shelters, improving protection and living conditions for families affected by displacement.

Following the regional launch, VEA conducted an introductory coordination meeting at the Shiraro Woreda City Administration Office. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Zone Administration, Mayor’s Office, Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), and the Social Affairs Office.

During the meeting, the VEA team presented the project’s objectives, implementation plan, beneficiary selection process, and key activities. Government representatives welcomed the initiative and provided guidance on establishing a Beneficiary Selection Committee and a Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) to ensure the distribution process is transparent, accountable, and inclusive.

The project will support a total of 3,000 households across three IDP sites:

  • 📍 Adi-Abay IDP Site: 2,100 households

  • 📍 Semaetat IDP Site: 500 households

  • 📍 Shiraro High School IDP Site: 400 households

Through this project, VEA remains committed to working closely with government institutions, humanitarian partners, and affected communities to ensure vulnerable families receive essential shelter support with dignity, fairness, and accountability.
