Language Skill Development Project

Language Skill Development Project
We’re excited to share the first update on our Language Skill Development Project in Debre-Berihan, implemented in partnership with the Diplomatic Spouse Group of Ethiopia (Matrix)! Since July 1, 2025, this initiative has been supporting 320 students at Andinet Elementary and Medium Level School, where political instability has disrupted education and language barriers have hindered learning. English proficiency is critical for academic success, and this project aims to empower students with the skills they need to thrive. Despite initial challenges, attendance has already grown from 298 to 340 students—proof of the community’s enthusiasm and need for this program!
To support effective learning, we’ve provided 130 curriculum-aligned reference books (including dictionaries and exam prep materials) and essential supplies like 480 exercise books, 720 pens, and 160 pencils. Teachers, school leaders, and local officials attended the distribution, expressing deep gratitude for this timely intervention. One teacher shared, “We need an educated generation—that’s why we’re here,” while students joyfully declared, “This is our chance to build a bright future!”
This project is already making waves, and we can’t wait to see its long-term impact! With dedicated teachers and motivated students, we’re confident it will transform education in Debre-Berihan.
