Vision for Ethiopia Association Delivers Critical Training on Child Well-being and Gender Equity

The Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA) recently conducted a comprehensive training session in Shire-Indasilassie, aimed at strengthening local capacity around key issues affecting children and youth. The training brought together 39 participants—19 women and 20 men—including community representatives, government officials, law enforcement officers, and school educators.

The focus areas of the workshop spanned Child Education, Child Health, Child Protection, and Gender Equality. Sessions emphasized the importance of creating safe and inclusive environments where children can thrive—highlighting access to education, family and community support, proper nutrition, shelter, clothing, and medical care.

Child protection was a central theme, especially given the area’s recent experience with conflict. Facilitators stressed the urgent need for safe spaces for children—whether in schools, at home, or within the wider community—and reaffirmed the right of every child to a secure and supportive upbringing. Gender equality sessions underscored the need for fair treatment and equal access to educational opportunities for both girls and boys.

Participants left with actionable commitments to advance these principles in their respective spheres, pledging to implement concrete steps and share their progress in the coming months.

This initiative reflects VEA’s ongoing dedication to empowering communities and fostering resilience through education and advocacy.
